CVS trip 02/11/10

Now, I'm going to say off the bat that I wasn't all that pleased this trip because they were out of the 10oz Dove body wash that was on sale for 1.99 and for which I had (2) $1.25 off coupons which you can print (2) HERE.
I'm going to scout out Wal*Mart and Rite Aid for the body wash, but that's another matter.
Also, there was a nice deal on Reach toothbrushes, for which I had a $1.00 coupon, but there's no way anyone in this house would have used them! I'm sorry but we have to have good toothbrushes, even if I spend a few dollars more!

Thirdly, I have my coupon for the free Clairol Nice N Easy hair color foam, which my CVS does not have yet! (I hear Rite Aid is giving a $1 +Up reward, as is Walgreens giving $1 Register Reward for the hair color) I did get a rain check incase it comes in, and I'll still get that $1 Extra Buck, so we'll see.

All of that notwithstanding, here is the result of yesterday's trip.

I split these items into two transactions:
#1 Colgate Sensitive Multicare Toothpaste: On sale for $3.79, receive $3.79 in Extra Bucks, plus I had the $1.00/1 coupon from last week's Sunday coupon inserts, making it BETTER THAN FREE after coupon and Extra bucks!
Colgate 360 two pack of toothbrushes. This is the one that threw my trip off as I explained, but they were $6.99, I had no coupon (boo) and I did get $2.00 Extra Bucks, which was like getting them for $4.99. OK, I guess I can live with that. :)

(Total O.O.P 9.78, this transaction)

#2 Two Nivea Touch of Shimmer Lip Balms @ $3.29 each.

One Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Color $8.79. Total for all items before coupons/bucks was $15.37.

I had a coupon for $2.00 off any Maybelline lip, plus it seemed like any day I went in there this week, the coupon kisok printed me out a $3.00 off 10.00 beauty purchase so I used that, as well as the $5.79 in Extra Bucks from the previous transaction, and I had the B1G1 Coupon for the Nivea Lip (2/6 Red Plum insert)

That made my O.O.P total this transaction only $1.29!

So, I ended up spending $11.27 total for everything. Had I gotten the crappy toothbrushes, I'd have saved $4.00 more, but like I said our teeth are worth it! Still, if you count the toothbrushes seperate, per item I spent $1.85 which is awesome, considering that every item here was over $3.00 to begin with!

Now, I'm just getting the hang of CVSing, and I marvel at those who can get $30 worth of stuff for like $2.00! One thing I've started to realize is you have to try to split things up into as many transactions that each earn EB's as possible so that you can keep rolling them over into the next transaction.

If anyone would like to contribute to this subject, please leave me a comment! I would love to consult with someone who may have some great tips or tricks so that we can all learn how to really stretch that CVS "Buck"! :)
