CVS and Walgreens 08/14/11 - .72 OOP + Received $5.00 Extra Bucks!
Today was one of those shopping trips you wish could happen every day! I went to Walgreens and CVS and spent a grand total of .72 out of pocket, plus made $5.00 in Extra Bucks! Here's the run down:
First I went to Walgreens, one transaction:
Purchased:
(6) EXPO Washable Dry Erase Markers, 6 pack, on sale for $3.99, (reg $9.99 ea)
(1) Local Sunday Paper - for my coupons of course! $1.50.
Coupons used:
$3.00 off Expo Markers coupon from the Walgreens August Coupon Book (can pick one up right in the store. It will take $3.00 off every pack you purchase, using only ONE coupon!)
(3) $2/ANY TWO PACKS EXPO MARKERS COUPON FOUND HERE. You can print TWO of these per computer.
I Had 4 of those $2 coupons to use buy my Walgreens cashier only allowed me to buy 6 packs of the markers because they want to avoid the "shelf clearers". I will state here that I was NOT clearing the shelf! There was a full rack of these when I went in and plenty left after I took 8 packs, but I accepted that I could only get 6 on this transaction.
I will also mention here that only one of my printed coupons seemed to want to ring through and that my cashier had to get a manager to help get the other two to go through, which they absolutely should have, per Walgreen's policy. This particular manager was quite snippy with me and said that "Usually you are only allowed to print ONE internet coupon". I, of course corrected her on this, explaining how Bricks coupons work, hehe, and she abruptly replied "We're allowing it THIS TIME". Sigh...why do I always get the hard to deal with managers???
OK, I digress... My grand total for this transaction (because I bought that newspaper) was $1.44. If you've been paying attention you will notice I MADE .06 on those markers, thereby giving me my paper at a discount!
NEXT: I went to CVS.
The first thing EVERYONE should be doing when you walk into CVS is SCANNING YOUR CARD IN THE MAGIC RED MACHINE! There are always coupons to be had and you want to see what they are BEFORE YOU SHOP! My original purpose for going to CVS was just to see if I could redeem my raincheck for the Gilette Fusion razor which had sold out a couple weeks ago when they had the ECB deal on it. When I scanned my card in the machine out came coupons for:
1. A FREE 20ct Carefree Panty Liner
2. A FREE Caremello candy bar (not shown in photo, I ate it, lol)
3. A FREE 20ct of CVS Flexible Bandages
I rushed around the store to collect my freebies and they were all out of the 20ct bandages, but the 30ct was the SAME PRICE so my cashier let me substitute! :)
I also picked up that Gilette Fusion razor. The past deal was $9.99, receive $5.00 ECB.
Coupons used:
$4.00/1 Gilette Fusion Proglide Razor (newspaper coupon)
$5.00 Extra Bucks from a previous week
All the freebie coupons mentioned above.
Grand total for this transaction: MINUS.72! Now, the reason I ended up in the negative here is that my Extra Care Card happens to be through our health insurance carrier and I automatically get 20% off any and all CVS Brand Pharmacy items and medications. Even though I got those bandages for free, the system still gave me my 20% on top of that!
Don't forget I also got another $5.00 Extra Bucks for that razor!
So, all told between the two stores I spent .72 and got $5.00 to spend on another day! That is my kind of shopping!
